Ideally you should collect stats on every index - be it UPI, NUPI, USI or NUSI...especially NUSI as it might help optimizer choose it over Full Table Scan.

I have just attended a training on Teradata database design and Tuning in the USA. The instructor was from Teradata (company) itself.

He also said that we should collect stats on every type of index - even UPI. You can EXPLAIN a SQL and find the difference before collecting stats on Index and after.

Moreover, collect the stats on the composite index and not individual column which will be of very less or no use to optimizer.
