Subj:   Difficulty in connecting to a V12 database using Performance Monitor

From:   gerrydaly

Has anyone experienced anything like what I am about to describe, and if so, is there a fix/workaround?

We are in the process of upgrading to V12. I have installed the 12.0 version of the Performance monitor, and when I connect to a 2R6 system, everything is fine. However, when I add in new entries to my hosts file and try to use it, the TD Monitor hangs.

Let's say the following lines are in my hosts file (IPs changed):

     10.99.88.13 prod prodCOP1
     10.99.88.14 prod2 prod2COP2
     #10.137.66.11 prd prdCOP1
     #10.137.66.12 prd2 prd2COP2

The two uncommented IPs are for the 2R6 server, and the other two are for the 12.0 server. I put prod in as the database name, put in my username and password, and can log in without issue. I close out the monitor, uncomment out the bottom two lines, open the monitor again, put in prd as the database name, enter my username and password, and it just hangs. I check the Windows Task Manager and it is maxing out the CPU on my computer. Eventually I must force an exit. After that, if I load it and press the connect button, it hangs without even bringing up the Logon/Server Information page; in order to get back into it, I have to go into my hosts file and comment out the new addresses, and then I can get back into the monitor to connect to the old system.

I have no problems connecting to the 12.0 system with other utilities such as the SQL Assistant.

Does anyone have any suggestions on what the issue could be?

Thanks.
