I tried this test (inserting your string plus others > and < 18 characters) and saw no problem.

Check the Export/Import tab of the Options screen to make sure the option 'None' is selected for 'Enclose column data in:'. If this is set to Single or Double Quotes then it WILL remove the first and last character, since it expects these to be the quotes.

The length of the string should have no bearing on whether it removes the first and last character however. (Is your input data mixed - some quoted and some not?)

(I ran the test with SQL Assistant 12.0 since you did not mention the version you are using, but I don't think 7.2 will be any different.)
