Hi Mike, The data was exported by another group and I don't think it was setup correctly. Based on how the data was exported, neither vartext nor text will work with the fastload some of the columns were cast as character and the text was treated as one concatenated column having pipe delimiters separating each column. The BTEQ export was defined as the example below. EXPORT OUTFILE /xx/xxxx/xxxx/xxxxxxx/ MODE RECORD FORMAT TEXT; Being that FastExport utility does not allow the definition of vartext with pipe delimited data, what is the correct way to define this in BTEQ? Would the correct way be to define the Export file as 'EXPORT DATA OUTFILE /xx/xxxx/xxxx/xxxxxxx/' and define each data type exported as VARCHAR? Thanks much, Donna
