Subj:   Multi value compression on NULLs

Hi,

We are at database version is 06.01.01.

As per TERADATA

     COLUMNNAME COMPRESS ('VALUE1'),

The above would compress the values VALUE1 and NULL. But I am not seeing the expected space saving. When I put NULL for compression explicitly as follows, expected space saving is observed.

     COLUMNNAME COMPRESS ('VALUE1',NULL).

Has anyone seen this problem? Do we need to explicitly mention NULL in the value list for compression.

/Compression of NULL occurs automatically when compression on any other value on that column is added, /is this right?

Regards
