Subj:   Re: High confidence in Explain

From:   Victor Sokovin

Can anyone explain to me what "high confidence" really means ?

To me this only means that the optimizer used the stats. The stats can always be outdated but even if they are brand new the optimizer can still get the counts wrong if it needs to apply conditions which are not easily computable from basic stats. I seldom pay attention to the counts. Only in cases when they are way out compares to my expectations I try to understand what is going on.
