I'd just like to say that Glenn's rates are well worth it. One email from him helped us get our first udf launched :)

I agree that it's a problem with C programming. I used to be pretty good at that in another lifetime (over ten years ago), but now it looks fairly alien to me. We did have to search across our group for someone with the knowledge.

I can't remember if there has ever been talk about changing to a different language: anyone else? For instance, we definitely have more VBA people around nowadays.

That said, we have two UDF's implemented so far: to calculate distance, and to replace strings. These two alone have saved us tons of complicated coding and storage of precalculated data. So I definitely am a fan and if the right need arises will do the work necessary for others.
