I'm not sure I understand fully what you are trying to achieve but here goes: 1) Once in Teradata a process that assigns a default database based on the USER (the external application's view) takes place. When you create a user, you can specify their default database. Beware that this can be overridden by the logon request and of course changed by the application and fully qualified table names. Default database is more of a convenience than a constraint. 2) Once in Teradata change the USER. If you mean change the logon credentials (e.g. like su in Unix), then no you can't do this. The only way to change your identity is to log off and log on again. You can have multiple sessions from one workstation. You could log on with different user ID's on each session if need be. **** Perhaps if you stated the underlying security requirement people may have more helpful suggestions.
