Hi I have the following design decision to make with regard to the data mart that is the source of a load to Teradata. The data mart will be a star, with the fact table at the centre of the star. Option 1 My question relates to whether the fact table ought to have the FKs defined to each dimension on one row and one fact element? Therefore, the table will be thin but will have many rows. Option 2 The alternative is to have a fat fact table, with each FK defined as above but there will be many fact columns. This implies more cols but fewer rows than option one. From a DW point of view, the population of the fact table is simpler if option 2 is used. However, option 1 appears to have certain attractions. Do you have any views on this? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks Frank
