Thank you, a search using "UPDATE (Upsert form)" allowed me to find the reference and fully understand the answer. As one of my fellow dba's
here said, I'd heard of the upsert, but never seen the syntax.
As far my comment being tongue and check, well, the phrase "hand-coded Atomic Upsert" just brought up some weird and interesting images.
Sometimes when I'm reading the NCR manuals, some of the new phrases seem to be from another world. For example, when I was reading the
documentation on the Atomic Upsert, I also noticed another link to a discussion about using a "Mutator SET Clause". With the holidays now
officially over, I can only hope that evil reindeer-riding bad guy was dealt his just deserts our hero, Atomic.
