Kumar: To say that SQL Asst or any other ODBC client doesn't support Teradata extensions is a very large and incorrect logic leap on your part. Not only does SQL Asst support Teradata extensions, it supports a lot of non-Teradata extensions. In reality, WITH and WITH BY are both report writing operations. SQL Asst is not a report writer. It puts the output into columns and rows that look like a spreadsheet. A spreadsheet is not a report - it is a spreadsheet with data in every cell. The WITH and WITH BY violate that condition - hence, not supported. If you want to have the output from WITH and WITH BY, use the report writer called BTEQ. There is a right tool for every job. SQL Asst is not the right tool for this job. You know what they say, "If all you have is a hammer, everything starts to look like a nail, even the swirly things." Therefore we need hammers and screwdrivers as well as a variety of other tools. Another example, you never load 1M rows into an empty table using SQL Asst either. Learning to use the right tool is a big part of completing any job - that includes Teradata just like hanging cabinets in your kitchen. Regards, Michael Larkins
