ODBC does not support the Teradata 'WITH' clause. If you want grand totals in SQL Assistant the simplest way is to use the 'Add Totals' menu. (Right click in the Answer window and select 'Add Totals') Since you are looking for a count rather than a sum you would have to add an additional column [the number 1] to be counted/summed. (However the row number heading at the left of the answerset will tell you how many rows are returned anyway... were you looking for a 'distinct' count maybe?) The other alternative (or the only alternative if you want sub-totals) is to use a 'Group By Rollup()' clause. For any other aggregate totals/sub-totals you will probably need to use BTEQ. (Although SQL Assistant can provide the Sum, Average, Standard Deviation, or Variance, for any column or block of cells that you highlight.) Mike Dempsey
