Subj:   Re: Regarding Date Format Problem: Failed conversion

From:   Victor Sokovin

I am facing one problem in the SQL query.

FnName: Prepare -- [NCR][ODBC Teradata][Teradata Database] A character string failed conversion to a numeric value. ].

This error I am getting in the Informatica Source Qualifier Query. My query is working fine in Informatica 6.2 version. But I am facing the above error in the new version of informatica version 7.1

I will be grateful if anybody provide a solution for the same

I think only a very small group of people can help with this question. Namely, those who had experienced exactly the same kind of problem and found a resolution for it.

It looks like ODBC is used. Do you know that it is possible to enable ODBC logging and monitor the queries sent to the database by the driver? If you do there is a good chance that you can spot the offending query.

Finding it would make 99.99% of the solution. Probably some format somewhere is not defined properly and changing it would fix the issue. Of course there could be cases when you can't fix the issue yourself and need to contact the vendor but communication with the vendor should be much easier if you could provide the SQL causing the problem.

Regards,

Victor
