Alan, We tried to do the same thing in V2R6.1, and ended up doing what Robert Hanson outlined. 1) We have a small number of users with various rights with grant option at the database level. 2) We have several roles that match the access levels different types of users need. So one role might have select on database x and insert on tables x.foo and x.bar, and another might have select on x.foo and x.bar only. 3) The "superusers" are granted all roles with admin. 4) Users (actual people and application users) are granted rights only through the roles.
