Perhaps....However you should also be aware that a tpareset can be used to stop/restart the Teradata system with logons disabled. For what you
are doing (upgrading the system) that might be the most expedient way to ensure no one else is on the system and the starting state of the system
is positively known before proceeding with the merge activity....I have no qualms about saying that if I were doing what you are doing, I would
still be inclined to use tpa commands to stop and restart the system.
