I am using it extensively. Performance gain is relative to one of the following:

1. Source Only pushdown

2. Target Only pushdown

3. 100% (full) pushdown

In 100% pushdown, the performance is all based on the Teradata box capabilities, other than that, the performance will depend on the performance of you mappings.
