FYI:

I forgot to mention in my previous post that the issue is addressed in DR 104808 -- Unable to run query with ODBC "III" setting on "date time format" For ODBC patch 3.5.0.5.

For others who may have experienced the same difficulty this may be a good solution.

However, we are in the process of certifying that this will work for everything, given some of our other reports.

So as of now, I don't know if this is 'magic bullet' , as installing the new ODBC may cause other issues.
