Subrahmanian, See below a brief overview of UDFs: A Teradata Database UDF is a program that operates on data stored in relational tables. UDFs allow users to add their own extensions to the Teradata SQL language. A UDF is referred to as a routine in the SQL-99 standard. In the SQL-99 standard a routine can be a function, method or a procedure. In addition routines can be classified as internal, written in SQL, or external written in another language such as C, C++ or JAVA. The Teradata Warehouse 7.1 UDF feature provides the C language external routine "function" as defined by the SQL-99 standard. When a UDF is created it becomes part of the Teradata SQL language and is accessible to everyone who has the appropriate access rights Visit Teradata Site for UDF related information there are some useful UDFs already available and there is a document available which helps you in understanding/creating/deploying UDFs on TD. HTH Kind Regards, Muhammad Affan
