SYM 9

SYM 9 is a set of software programs that allow you to administer Engenio Information Technologies, Inc.disk array subsystems in an NCR system environment. The functions provided by SYM 9 include:

* Application-based Storage Management

* Major Event Log

* Asynchronous Event Notification

* Centralized Management for Heterogeneous Systems on a Network

* Data Scrubbing

* Read Link Status Diagnostics

MPPD

Redundant I/O Path Management includes everything in the data path starting with the Host Adapter in the host system to the Disk Array Controller in the RAID Subsystem. In order to obtain the redundant data path management provided by SYM 9, the Disk Array subsystem must have two Disk Array Controllers installed. Other components in the data path that may also be installed in a redundant configuration include the Host Adapters, Fibre channel switches, and cables. If any component in one path fails, the MPPD software automatically re-routes I/O requests to an alternate path so the system can continue to operate without interruption.
