These softwares are required for the Interface between the nodes and Disk arrays. They have nothing to do with the RDBMS directly.

SYMplicity is the software that helps manage the Fiber Channel disk arrays connected to the nodes in a clique using GUI or CLI interfaces. Managing arrays is like creating LUNs, adding disks, rebuilding disks etc.

Multi-Pathing software is basically a driver that provides the ability to dynamically route the I/O paths between nodes and Disk Arrays when any problem with happens with a I/O path.

This problem may be a malfunction of I/O port of Fiber Channel adapter or a problem with the cable etc.
