Subj:   Access to Views but not to tables.

Friends,

In Teradata normally access is to views but not directly to tables. Why?

What sort of security threats can one expect if access is provided directly to tables?

One scenario which a colleague of mine mentioned is ..if you have 100 columns in a table some of which are confidential, you'd create a view with only non-confidential columns. Apart from this the object securities with view/table etc are more or less the same. Alter table etc., are the other issues.. Any other reasons which the TDATA user community can suggest?

Regards

Anomy.
