It is difficult to suggest solutions without knowing what the problem exactly is. You just mentioned that you need to copy the file every time you reboot your PC, right? Imagine you have some kind of a virus on it which does such nasty things as deleting useful ActiveX controls each time you reboot. ssa3d30.ocx seems to be a "popular" file which has been in Windows for a long time (mine has the timestamp of 2000). It could be a target for viruses.

I am not sure this control is something that SQLA explicitly installs. It might indeed (indirectly) use it, though. Perhaps Mike could shed some light? I for one have never had any problems with this Sheridan OCX or indeed any reason to look at it.

You could try to monitor your registry and file access. There is software which helps with that. It might be a time consuming exercise, though. But fun to do, if you are into this kind of puzzles.
