Hello All, If one adds physical disk/hardware to a teradata system, does DBC know about how much extra space is available automatically, or does one first have to go and tell the database about this? The reason for this question, is that for space management (I am new to Teradata), I want to be sure I understand how free/used space is understood within the database boundaries, and how any free space outside the database boundaries can be identified. In other words, we need to understand space allocation and usage on a physical level, in addition to the logical database level. Also, does Teradata create files up front that "capture" all available disk space, or do the data files grow at file system level as the database needs more space? Can anyone please help? Regards Rao/Etienne
