  Get this in Queryman sometimes after cutting and pasting sql. Same sql runs fine via BTEQ.  


As other posters have said, this is a Unix carriage return. For reasons lost in the mists of time, PCs use a carriage return/linefeed pair to indicate end-of-line, while Unix uses carriage return only. Macs use linefeed only, just because they can.

Switch to a smarter text editor that will silently understand and convert between the various formats. TextPad and UltraEdit are good choices, and will put PC text on the Windows clipboard -- even if you've copied from a Unix file. Those are both shareware apps.

If you're copying directly from a terminal window, look for a setting that will do the conversion for you. I know PuTTY will do this.
