The data type of your PI will in no way degrade nor increase performance - it is just data. The best practice is to have all PK and FK
relationships defined as the same data type so that they distribute or redistribute to the same AMP for joining without requiring data conversions
that dramatically slow down a join. Likewise, it is best to use a data type that can easily be referenced in your where clause.
