Subj:   Erwin is not mi amigo again...

Hello all you sharp people,

Well, I've got a question for you. The (what I believe is pretty current) version of ERwin that we're using (v4.1.4.4223, and I thought Teradata version numbers were bad) does not allow you to check COMPRESS or enter in values for the columns in a Primary KEY (even though I took the time to enter the actual Primary INDEX [well indices] that I'm using).

In another tool I used to use (ERwin is better than a sharp stick in the eye, although I do have a lot of bruises around my eye socket), since it had the metadata in an SQL database, you could do a sort of a COALESCE with an existing field and a UDF and get past things like this. Well, that was a long time ago.

What I'm wondering is if it's possible to code this in a script somehow, like all you SMART people do to get PPI's out of ERwin. And by the way, I'd sure like to see the snippet of code that does the PPI's (since I'm working on a physical model as we speak, and otherwise I got to do a lot of hand waving and editing. Oh wait, I'm a dba, I do that all the time!).

Anyway, thanks for any help you can give me.

iv
