You problem description is a bit cryptic, can you please describe your setup? Especially where are you logging on (on the server, on a client) and in case this is a client, what is the network infrastructure between the machines?

In general the following will cause problems:

- Firewalls

- Client version is different from the server version

- any TCP/IP translation such as NAT

- Windows XP SP2 firewall
