This sounds to me like the keyword TEMPORARY is not used in the COLLECT STATISTICS statement. Just refer your colleague (or whoever asked the
question) to the SQL Reference DDL Statements manual. The syntax is explained pretty well there, and because syntax differences are rather subtle
in this case and may depend on the context of the request, why not just consult the manual and try the options it discusses?
