The statistics tell the optimiser about max/min data values, the number of rows, number of nulls. This is more important when a column has very
skewed data values (i.e. a large percentage of rows contain the same data value for a specific column).
Statistics don't actually tell the optimiser anything about the distribution of the rows across the AMPs.
