Yes I did mean column2b in the last post, sorry about that.

So it looks like CASE returns UNICODE and COALESCE returns ANSI? Is there a way to get CASE to return ANSI as well? It seems to be unexpected by MicroStrategy (and to my common sense) that the "Max Length" that's returned is twice the size that the "Format" would indicate. The only other difference I see between the information returned by a "help column" is that "Char Type" is 2 instead of 1 for the CASEd column.

Any ideas anyone?
