Subj:   Inheritance of role rights

From:   Chaim Sender

Dear TD Forum,

I'm working with TD V2R.05.00.02.02 and we're trying to implement role level permissions for our system.

In brief it looks like this - I have a user called DEV_OPER with no user-level rights at all. I want all the rights to other databases/users to be via roles.

My understanding is that with V2R5.0 one cannot use set roles to all so the user logged on to the session can only use one role at a time.

We've tried to get around this by nesting the roles so that DEV_OPER has a role called U_DEV_OPER which has nested roles. U_DEV_OPER itself has rights on DEV_OPER only. The nested roles are related to the tasks DEV_OPER will need to do - such as R_DATA, R_LOAD etc.

When I try to load data into the DEV_LOAD database (which R_LOAD has full rights to), I get an error message saying that DEV_OPER has no CT rights to the DEV_LOAD database.

Can anyone suggest where I'm going wrong?

DEV_OPER's default role is U_DEV_OPER

Cheers,

Chaim
