Subj:   Re: Creating Multiset tables using ERwin - Revisited

From:   David Clough

Personally I think it's a lost cause, Jason, because, even if you manage to do it, you'll end of with having to construct the whole of the table DDL statement through the Macro and thereby negate the Erwin DDL generator.

I've personally asked Computer Associates for this as an enhancement feature but that seems to have fell on deaf ears.

Actually, I seem to remember that Multiset is the default when logged in to the database in ANSI mode.

For your information, Jason, I have constructed a simple Macro for doing a Base View over the table. Somewhat contradicting my earlier point, I was fed up with Erwin mucking up the column order between Table and Base View so I ended up with something that led to a simplified View, constructed like this :

     REPLACE VIEW DEVCS_V.BOOKINGORDER_V01 AS
     SELECT * FROM DEVCS_T.BOOKINGORDER;

This is constructed from a post-table script, by the way.

I'm very interested in hearing from anyone who takes an interest in Erwin Macros or techniques, so I'd be happy delighted to share ideas in this particular area.

Here at TNT we do all our database designs through Erwin so, whilst we might not be experts in all of its areas, we use it day in, day out.
