All, I have only seen people stating problems with insert/select method: rollbacks and possibly more cpu. One problem with the EXPORT/MULTILOAD/FASTLOAD method is the limitation of Concurrent FASTEXPOT/MULTILOAD/FASTLOAD jobs. This will change with Teradata 6.1 and TASM, but I have not researched it enough to know of other possible side effects. Second issue with this method is the recoverability of the multiload jobs. If this is not done properly, you can make the target table not usable. This is a big concern when you have neophytes; Like the case here. Sometimes simplicity beats efficiency for the situation.
