I can't speak to the two-step process of deleting and then dropping the partition. However, 1. In just recently testing this against a table of similar scale, the single-step process took 5-6 minutes when there was data in the table and a NUSI defined on the table. 2. With no data in a partition the response was almost instantaneous (as Keith reports). 3. Smaller tables with data were not necessarily instantaneous but not very long either. Keith, are you just using straight SQL to delete the rows (DELETE statement thru SQL Asst or BTEQ), or are you performing an MLOAD delete? Thanks, Dan
