As I think I stated in my earlier response, Teradata used to remove '0A' characters ... and from your trests it looks like maybe it still does.

(SQL Assistant also removes them from any SQL you submit if they are simply 'characters' in the statement and are NOT within quotes. ie. it submits only '0D' for a line break, instead of the actual '0D0A'.)

You could try using '0D' or '0D0A' - that would probably work for Windows and Mainframe, but I dont know if BTEQ [or maybe some DBS component] is smart enough to change '0D' to '0A' when the data is retreived on Unix.
