Subj:   Re: Max data file size for load utilities

From:   Victor Sokovin

I am not aware of a filesize limit on the utilities. Filesize limits come from the based operating system.

I am also surprised to see this question bubbling up again in 2005. There used to be a period of time, surely before TTU 7.0, when utilities did not support large files even though the OS did. At that time NCR were providing a special plug-in to fix that. The plug-in was called large file access module or something like that. As of TTU 7.0 (or was it even a bit earlier?) the plug-in was no longer available because it was not needed. Large file support was built into the utilities themselves.

If the OP is on the TTU 7.0 or higher, the checklist could be as follows:

1. Is my client OS supporting large files, i.e., files of size > 2GB, at all? Some OS don't.

2. Is support of large files *enabled* on my client OS? System administrator may disable the feature system-wide.

3. Can my client OS user handle large files? On Unix, try the command "ulimit -a". Its output should provide you with the limits for the specific user.

Regards,

Victor
