Hi Everyone: I am teaching a utilities class at a Teradata site and something happened that I have not seen in 10 yrs of working with Teradata. I am at a loss to know why it is happening and therefore wondering if any of you have experienced the same thing. Situation: when we export DATA a date column from a table into a flat file using a batch script, the date is expanded as YYYY-MM-DD. There is a FORMAT on the column definition in the table, but it is YY/MM/DD. The INTEGER column is binary and the DECIMAL column is packed. Yet, when I export DATA from the same table using BTEQ interactively, the date is the expected 4-byte binary value. We were able to Fastload the file, but only after using CHAR(10) in the DEFINE. Just not anything I have ever been required to do previously. Any ideas or experiences that you care to share which might shed some light on the odd situation would be greatly appreciated. Respectfully, Mike
