Subj:   Re: V2R5.1 dynamic partition elimination

From:   Ole Dunweber

Hello

Has anyone tested DPE in V2R5.1 and determined that DPE does, in fact, "work as advertised"?

We run R5.1.2 and can confirm, that DPE works in some cases. That includes the straightforward case like (PI on PPI-table includes DayId):

     select DayId, SUM(Fact)
       from PPI-table A,
            Lookup_Day B
      where A.DayId = B.DayId
        and B.WeekId = 200520

In other cases our hopes of DPE has not been fulfilled. I'm sorry I haven't got the time to elaborate...

Note, that DPE works for product joins only.

For merge joins, we now get a low of rowkey-based merge joins. This is technically speaking not DPE, but it performs "like-wise", in that it only accesses the relevant part of the PPI-table.

The bottom line is (regarding PPI), that 5.1 is much better than 5.0.
