Subj:   Re: Using Teradata Procedural Language

From:   Srikanth Goli

Thank you for you reply. I am running into syntax issues when I try to the command..

I get an error when I run the "switch on Import mode (File, Import)" command from SQL Assistant. What tool do I use to run the command? Is it BTEQ?

Regarding the transactions, what command is used to switch from Teradata mode to ANSI mode transactions? What I want to do is,perform an update within a transaction, then validate the reults, and then commit or rollback based on the validity of results. I do the following in SQL Server, where I keep the transaction open, while I validate the changes.

     Begin Tran
      Update statement ..
validate the results of the update staement
      if results are OK
     commit tran
       other wise
     rollback tran

Can this be performed from SQL Assistant?

Thanks for your time.
