Hi Jim,

In my experience virtually all Teradata sites include some denormalised tables. They tend to have far fewer such tables than used on other DBMS's, but they do exist.

Can Teradata handle all reports using third normal form ? Yes it can.

Will you get performance gains by denormalising ? Yes you will.

Will a third normal form design be fast enough for you ? Depends on your requirements, system size etc but I'm willing to bet you've got a much better chance of achieving it on Teradata than other DBMS's. Also of course, by keeping a third-normal form design you make data maintainence code a lot easier.
