Subj:   Re: DOS FastLoad and CLI315's

From:   Michael Larkins

John:

I don't have immediate access to the Fastload docs at the moment and not sure what a 315 is telling you. However, based on your description, has it got anything to do with not getting the needed sessions? If so, you may be seeing it more and more because you are running so many Fastloads that the maximum number of block utilities is being exceeded. This max is set in the DBS Control record and is 5 by default and can be set up to 15.

If this is the case, there are three options:

1. increase the number for concurrent block utilities

2. schedule your Fastloads in such a fashion as to not exceed the limit - not necessarily an easy task

3. use the TENACITY and SLEEP commands in Fastload to keep the job from aborting and retrying to get the needed sessions as other Fastloads/MLoads/FastExports finish

I may be on the wrong tack if the CLI315 does not indicate this situation but thought I would make sure you are aware of the limits and options.
