Another BTEQ formatting question: I have a column defined as varchar (18). I need to right justify and zerofill the resulting output and truncate to 9 digits/characters. Some of the data appears in my BTEQ output as '18' trailing blanks. I have it defined as CAST(CAST(IDM.IDENTITY_ID AS FORMAT '9(09)') as char(11)) However I get an error message of: Failure 3617 FORMAT '9(09)' does not match the datatype Any suggestions or were I can read about this or see sample code, I welcome it.
