I am getting a similar error....posting this again.

I am not doing any calculations ...just retrieving the length of the VARCHAR datatype which is stored in ColumnLength column of DBC.Columns table. I get this problem for values more than 32K.

I am getting this error

[NCR][ODBC Teradata Driver] Numeric data precision will be lost

while processing a Datatype with length of more that 32K. I am using Teradata client TTU 7.1 (ODBC 3.03.00.03). Is this a bug with the driver or am I doing something wrong while processing.
