Subj:   Re: Function "Monthname" in SQL Assistant

From:   Michael Larkins

Victor:

I only responded to what was written in the original question: "heading comes back as monthname"

I do know that SQL Assistant and the ODBC do provide for several functions that are not written into Teradata and they simply translate the code to SQL. As an example, the LEFT and RIGHT functions are translated to TRIM.

Since I did not know how to write the monthname function - I did not try. So, again, I simply responded to the question "as written." That is why I stated in my reply that monthname is not a Teradata function.

If you have a better solution than anyone else including me, in the future you might just go ahead and post it rather than criticize anyone on the list. Are we trying to help others or criticize answers that we do not understand, do not like or do not read thoroughly?

Thank you,
