That's spot on. I'm impressed!!
So - is there an easy way to do the conversion from an octal/ASCII dump of EBCDIC text? I guess I could go byte by byte on a scientific
calculator to get the hex values: 342=E2, 327=D7, 323=D3... and then look up each value on my old IBM code translation card... but that seems very
old fashioned and time consuming. There must be a spiffy way to do it.
Also - does anyone know why an error message would get formatted in such a way? If I run the same compile on the mainframe I get the error
message text back. But this script runs on UNIX as part of the V2R4-V2R5 conversion. We have another conversion yet to run and I want to make it
as easy as possible to see the error messages.
Thanks again,
Anomy
