Subj:   SQL Assistant works - bteq says RDBMS CRASHED

From:   Donald Iuppa

Hello all,

I have the database installed on a portable computer.

When I am on my home network, which is where I created the instance everything works fine.

When I go to the office which is a different network, (I assume this has something to do with my problem), and bring the database up the queryman tool works just fine.

If I try to run a query from the bteq tool I get the following message:

*** Warning: RDBMS CRASHED OR SESSIONS RESET. RECOVERY IN PROGRESS>

Here is a log of my session:

     diuppa@10EDIUPPA<11> bteq

      Teradata BTEQ 08.02.01.00 for WIN32.
Copyright 1984-2003, NCR Corporation. ALL RIGHTS RESERVED.
Enter your logon or BTEQ command:

     logon dbc/zzzzzzz
     Password:
*** Warning: RDBMS CRASHED OR SESSIONS RESET. RECOVERY IN PROGRESS>
*** Warning: RDBMS CRASHED OR SESSIONS RESET. RECOVERY IN PROGRESS>
*** Warning: RDBMS CRASHED OR SESSIONS RESET. RECOVERY IN PROGRESS>

Does anyone know what is happening here?

It just keeps repeating this message and I have waited a long time, mind you at the same time queryman is working.

Thank you for your help.
