Subj:   Re: Difference between DELETE TABLE & DELETE TABLE ALL

From:   Coffing Christopher L

Vijay

The difference is the "ALL", otherwise the "ALL" is implied when deleting an entire table.

When you "delete table where.." is when you get in trouble. When you delete the entire table, the transient journal is not a part of the transaction. When you delete a portion of the data then the TJ is part of the transaction.

The statements that you submitted are the same.

P.S. I am sure the syntax for the delete statements sent were for better communications. The proper syntax is:

     DELETE "databasename.tablename";
     DELETE "databasename.tablename ALL";

OR

     DELETE FROM "databasename.tablename";
     DELETE FROM "databasename.tablename ALL";

Sorry to nitpick...; )

Best Regards
