In my last response I was assuming you meant a non dbc database as you mentioned dbname in the text (although you did say dbc in the subject
:)). Therefore, the Modify statement won't help you directly, UNLESS...
You are modifying a DBC Child to a smaller size. It will then give the space back to its parent, being DBC. I had to do just this a few days
ago to recover from a negative DBC space issue (Restoring from a big system to a smaller system). Anyhow, the other responses have covered the
