No, what you propose not valid.

There is no way to 'fool' the system into splitting into two...

You may be able to reduce the size of the system and then rebuild a new system from the removed nodes, but it's not a trivial undertaking and would probably require additional hardware pieces to complete.

I strongly recommend that you contact your NCR account reps for assistance in this endeavor.
