Subj: | | Availability of User Manuals |
|
From: | | Campbell, William Dennis |
Regarding Glen's statement:
| On the free access to manuals, I have been at customer sites that are so virus phobic that they essentially have barred internet access
except for email. Sure there were exception processes, but these didn't really support timely access to the manuals. | |
Please remember that Teradata customers have the right to make unlimited printed and/or electronic copies of Teradata user documentation from
the CD-ROM provided with each Teradadata SW upgrade. These can be made available inside the firewall to all users, so that viruses are not an
issue.
It's true that manuals are sometimes updated between releases. You can, however, sign up to be notified when changes occur. Then you can
download the updates that apply to your site, "cleanse" them outside the firewall (should that be deemed necessary), and then move them
inside.
Users should always have timely access to manuals, and it shouldn't depend on instantaneous internet access to them.
